827 megawatt (MW) plant was acquired from France’s EDF power solutions and expands the company’s generation portfolio<\/em><\/p>\n\n

\u00c2mbar Energia, a business unit of J&F S.A., has completed the acquisition of the Norte Fluminense Thermoelectric Power Plant and the Norte Fluminense 2 project, both located in Maca\u00e9 (RJ), one of the most strategic regions for the Brazilian electricity system.<\/p>\n\n

Norte Fluminense is one of the most efficient plants in Brazil and operates in a combined cycle with natural gas from the Campos Basin. The unit has three gas turbines and one steam turbine, totaling 827 megawatts (MW). <\/p>\n\n

With the incorporation of the UTE, \u00c2mbar Energia’s installed capacity exceeds 7 gigawatts (GW), consolidating the company as one of the largest private energy generators in the country in terms of capacity.<\/p>\n\n

“With the acquisition of one of the best located plants in Brazil, we have expanded our participation in the Southeast, a strategic region for the electricity sector, since it is home to the largest energy consumption centers in the country,” says Marcelo Zanatta, president of \u00c2mbar Energia. Natural gas is a fundamental fuel for the national electricity system to have stable generation ready to meet demand in different operational scenarios”, he adds.<\/p>\n\n

With the completion of the transaction, \u00c2mbar Energia now has 56 generation units in 12 Brazilian states, including hydroelectric, solar, biomass, biogas, natural gas, fuel oil and coal plants, in addition to the company’s future participation in Eletronuclear.<\/p>\n\n

In addition to the acquisition of the existing asset, the transaction includes the Norte Fluminense 2 project, which provides for the construction of a new plant with approximately 1,800 MW of installed capacity, significantly expanding the region’s generation potential.<\/p>\n\n

The transaction reinforces the company’s strategy to expand its presence in the Southeast and diversify its generation portfolio, strengthening its operations in different energy sources and its ability to contribute to the country’s energy security.<\/p>\n\n
