A Âmbar Energia, unidade de negócio do grupo J&F, assinou contrato para adquirir a Usina Termelétrica Norte Fluminense e o projeto de construção da Usina Termelétrica Norte Fluminense 2, ambos localizados em Macaé, no Rio de Janeiro, uma das áreas mais estratégicas para o sistema elétrico brasileiro. A conclusão da operação está sujeita à análise e aprovação dos órgãos reguladores competentes.
A aquisição reforça a atuação da companhia na região Sudeste e amplia sua capacidade de oferecer energia segura e flexível ao mercado. Considerada uma das usinas termelétricas mais eficientes do Brasil, a Norte Fluminense opera em ciclo combinado a gás natural proveniente da Bacia de Campos, com três turbinas a gás e uma a vapor, totalizando 827 megawatts (MW) de potência.
The acquisition also includes the Norte Fluminense 2 project, which provides for the construction of a new plant of approximately 1,800 MW – equivalent to 19% of the electrical capacity currently installed in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The plant will have three independent generation sets, operating in a combined cycle using natural gas and water vapor.
Com a integração da Norte Fluminense ao portfólio, a potência instalada da Âmbar ultrapassará 7,1 gigawatts (GW), divididos em 56 unidades de geração em 12 estados, incluindo usinas hidrelétricas, solares, nucleares, a biomassa, a biogás, a gás natural, a óleo combustível e a carvão mineral.
In the state of Rio de Janeiro, Âmbar already owns the Santa Cruz TPP, in the capital, with a capacity of 500 MW, and signed an agreement to acquire 68% of the total capital of Eletronuclear, owner of the Angra I and Angra II plants and the Angra III project. “The incorporation of Norte Fluminense strengthens our presence in Rio de Janeiro, in a strategic region close to the largest load centers in the country, and reinforces our position as a relevant agent for the security and stability of the national electricity system”, said Marcelo Zanatta, president of Âmbar Energia. “We are building an increasingly robust portfolio prepared to support the country’s energy transition,” he added.
